PROJECT: POSTMARK: AN ARTIST'S PROJECT BY GABBY O'CONNOR, 2005
While travelling overseas artist Gabby O'Connor sent a group of artists art works crafted en-route, and invited them to make a work in response. The final works were exhibited as Postmark at the Hirschfeld Gallery, Wellington, 2005.

MY RESPONSE: The touring vest was an appropriate reference to the travelling aspect of the work's origin (making on the run); the gang patch explores the idea of home coming jackets (appropriate considering Gabby’s imminent arrival) and notions of belonging; the utility belt housing everything a craft terrorist might need to implement their crafty terror; and the use of leather because of both its perceived and actual material strength (and the unavoidable slightly sexy-chic bogan element - no half-hearted woosey crafters here!).
